Standards Development

We have participated in the drafting of two British Standards relating to eLearning. In both cases, the drafting process was put out to competitive tender by BSI and eventually subcontracted to a consortium led by Seb Schmoller.

BS8419 - Interoperability between Metadata Systems used for Learning, Education, and Training - is a two part standard.  K-int led on the drafting of part 2. We completed this work in December 2003, and the final version of the standard was published by BSI in 2004.

DD8788 - UK Lifelong Learner Profile, "UKLeaP" - was produced in close collaboration with personnel from JISC CETIS (Bill Olivier, Scott Wilson, Simon Grant and Peter Rees-Jones). K-Int led on the production of the UKLeaP XML schema. We completed this work in June 2004, and the development draft, in three parts, was issued by BSI in 2005.

We have also worked as paid experts for the CEN/ISSS Workshop on Learning Technologies (WS/LT).  This work includes contributing to the authoring of two CEN Workshop Agreements: CWA 15555:2006 (Guidelines and Support for Building Application Profiles in e-Learning) and CWA 16097:2010 (Simple Publishing Interface).
