Version 3 of the Global Open Knowledge Base Released as Production

This week sees the release of GOKb version 3 (Link to Git Project) to the live Kuali Servers featuring substantially improved workflows and refine integration.

GOKb is a Mellon funded project aiming to improve the flow of information about publisher packages of content to electronic resource managers. Knowledge Integration, working initially through Jisc Collections with Sero consulting, are delivering the software platform to enable this global collaborative effort. GOKb leverages the Open Refine platform to provide a tool for creating and maintaining globally consistent and authoritiative information about publisher offerings. Version 3 also features a loosely coupled connection with the Jisc Collections KB+ project - allowing KB+ to consume publiser package data created by the global effort. Work is now underway for the next major release, which will provide KB+ style integration but implemented directly in the KUALI OLE suite.

GOkb reuses a number of existing K-Int components to create a record editing environment which allows administrative staff to review, edit and approve ingested data. Fine grain access control is applied to different user roles and a variety of system level interfaces are provided for integration with third party data suppliers and consumers.
