Social Interpretation and Cultural Exchange (SICE)

The SICE project is is part of the Digital R&D Fund for Arts and Culture supported by Arts Council England, Arts and Humanities Research Council and NESTA. The project aims to apply the models and content found in existing social interaction mechanisms - Facebook, Twitter, etc. -  across Imperial War Museum’s collections, thus making social objects out of museums objects.  The main partners are IWM, K-int and University College London (UCL).

During the project, K-int will extend the CIIM middleware, already used by IWM, to model a full range of social interactions, including linkages between social media and museum objects and collections.  We will also be developing interfaces to existing social media systems and exploring 'light touch' models of moderation.

The project runs for 1 year from October 2011.  More details on the project blog, hosetd by IWM.
