XCRI-CAP Aggregator

k-int won an open competitive tender issued by JISC to build an online service for the Uk education community which allows institutions to submit feeds of data about course availibility, which conform the XCRI-CAP 1.2 standard (eXchanging Course Related Information - Course Advertising Profile) and to see how the information renders in a neutral third party environment.  The aggregator will be used in conjunction with an online validator service being built by ther course data consortium led by university of nottingham.

As well being useful to providers of course data, the aggregator will allow potential consumers of feeds of course data and third party developers to explore different ways using this data.  The aggregator will encourage mash-ups by exposing the aggregated data in a munber of ways:

  • a RESTful interface using Apache SOLR
  • OpenSearch
  • SRU
  • OAI-PMH
  • as linked data, via SPARQL endpoint
k-int will also be developing SDKs to encourage developers to make use of the various APIs.  For more information about the project, visit the project blog.
